Mr. Bob Koning
I graduated from Calvin College with a BA in Elementary Education.
I have Master’s degrees from GVSU, Calvin, and Hope.
I am a former Camp Roger counselor. While I was there, floating down the river, leading kids on a canoe trip, I thought, “If only I could find a way to do work like this for the rest of my life!” So I did!
I began teaching at GHCS in 1985.
I am married to my amazing wife, Julie, and we have 4 amazing daughters. Romans 8:28 sums up my life, “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God.” I love dogs, playing guitar, singing, fishing, woodworking, and reading. My favorite places on earth are Turks and Caicos, anywhere up North, and the Grand Tetons.
I have spent most of my life teaching at GHCS and I totally love it! Teaching is my calling and a huge blessing because this is simply the way God “wired” me. He has called me and guided me in this ministry, and I am forever grateful.
To sum up my life in one sentence it would be: “I am a guy who loves God and my family with all my heart; your child is now part of my family, so I will strive to be the best teacher your child has ever had.”
I am really glad and humbled to have the opportunity to teach God’s children at such a great school.
Integration of Faith in the Classroom:
All I teach and the way I interact with my students is a reflection of the grace, mercy, and love given to me in Christ. I strive every day to bring kids into a closer relationship with their loving “Papa” God. All I have in one short year to accomplish this. He is evident in every subject and is our main focus.
I used to be a baker and still love making gourmet cheesecakes.
