MAUREEN WILLARD MEMORIAL
IN MEMORY OF….
Twenty years later we remember Maureen. She was a vibrant and
talented young lady whose life ended on the day of love, February
14, 1991. Her friends and family remember her love for children,
swimming, poetry, and for God. She was an inspiration to all who
knew her.
In the words of my father, “Maureen was driven to obtain a
quality Christian education and a solid daily relationship with
Jesus Christ.” Maureen’s faith grew in many ways but a big part of
her growth was at Westminster Christian School in Gadsden, Alabama.
She was so convinced that she needed a Christian education that she
did all she could to help with the cost. She loved her babysitting
jobs as well as her time spent by the pools as a lifeguard. During
the last two and a half years of her life she lived out her faith
and shared Christ with many.
Grand Haven Christian School and the Maureen Memorial:
In memory and honor of Maureen I want to help others obtain a
quality Christian education. Maureen would be thrilled to see her
nephews attending Grand Haven Christian School. It is my hope that
through this project I can introduce our family and friends here in
Grand Haven to a small piece of my amazing sister.
Grand Haven Christian School is unique in its efforts to offer
Christian Education to families who have children with special
needs. There is room for much growth as we would love to welcome
more families and give them the same love, care and education of the
current students at the school.
As a way to serve God along-side my sister, I am asking for
donations to be made to the Special Education Department (also known
as the ESS or Educational Support System). Even a small contribution
would be a great gift. Please consider sharing in this experience
with me.
Maureen’s scrap book:
Another way I plan to celebrate Maureen’s 20th heaven birthday is
with a scrap book. Jacob and Sam, my sons, love to hear stories. I
am almost out of stories and would love to share your memory of
Maureen with them. We would like to compile these memories with
photos, so if you have a photo you can send that too!
As you remember Maureen it is my prayer that you remember most of
all her love for Jesus. If you struggle with your faith and
relationship with Jesus, I urge you to remember Maureen and seek the
joy of the same savior she served and loved.
